A Constant Soundtrack

Just days before Halloween, I arrived at Costume and Display to find a bustling parking lot. The lot that once seemed abandoned months ago was flooded with people looking for that last bit of red goopy makeup to finish their look. I was listening to "Goodbye East, Goodbye West" by Madagascar. When a song so beautiful hits my ears (and it happens to be 28 minutes in length), I have a hard time leaving. So I sat to finish it. During this time, the parking space in front of me has cleared and a young couple pulled up in their fancy energy smart car. They walk in rhythm with the music. Perfect. Yet, they are solemn and quiet. They were in the store only shortly, and as they leave another car pulls into their place while the song changes to "You Could See Halley's Comet". This time, a single man with a full tummy and a diesel truck stumbles out of his ride. A much more comical scene, a smile was brought to my face. A constant soundtrack was my only reasoning for loitering in such a place. Walking into the store the music still rang in my ears. Perfect.

I encourage all to check out Madagascar and their two albums, Forced March (2005) and Goodbye East, Goodbye West (2007) on the Western Vinyl label.

Thanks for listening, Leah

Everything looks perfect!

wearing my headphones, listening to the mix i had just made the night before i was riding the city bus home from seattle.everyone was quiet, people were resting their heads to the back of their chairs, some dozing off and some just relaxing their eyes.i felt so comfortable, i didn't care who this stranger was sitting beside me. i just paid attention to the the music.and all of a sudden, or at least it seemed like, i was really just in the moment. observing everything around me. such great heights started playing and as it played everything seemed to have slowed down. we were stuck in traffic on I-5, we were moving so slowly, but for once it was relaxing and no one really cared when we would reach our destination. i stared out the window and even the rain was fallinga little slower than before. and the cloudy skies seemed to fit in at the time too. it just made me appreciate this song a little more. everything came together so well; the weather, the mood on the bus, the song, the slowed down version of everyone and everything. it made sense that they say we are corresponding shapes and Puzzle pieces from the clay.

mp3 [Such Great Heights - Iron and Wine]
umm i'll upload it tomorrow. lol

Start of Something New

Well I have been a fan of Hard to Find a Friend for quite some time now and he has inspired me to share the music i enjoy with with everyone who is willing to listen.
To start off I would like to just say what I am trying to accomplish.
A smart kid once told me that people love music, not because of the sound itself we hear, but the feeling we get out of it after i had told him i thought i took music almost too seriously.
I want people to get as much feeling as i get out of music.
and not just that, but simple mix cd's. I put a lot of effort into mixtapes and each one is in a particular order and I try to put a theme to it.
I want the world to experience something beautiful. it will set you free.

So with that i leave you with this song from HTFAF that gave me that extra push to start my own blog dedicated to music.
